Mosquito Season in South Florida: How to Protect Your Yard

Rain and heat are a perfect mix for mosquitoes. They breed in standing water, so a few small habits around your yard can make a big difference.
- Empty water from flowerpot saucers, buckets, toys and tarps after it rains.
- Clean gutters and drains so water does not sit.
- Change water in pet bowls and bird baths often.
- Keep pool covers drained and pools treated.
- Trim shrubs and thick plants where mosquitoes rest in the shade.
- Keep window and door screens in good repair.
